Details of Will

I John Knight of Badsey, Market Gardener, give:

  • To my dear wife Eliza £20 to be paid to her within three calendar months of my decease
  • All the rest and residue of my real and personal estate I give to Harry Josiah Smith and William Stanford upon trust.  As regards my real estate to allow my wife to have the use, occupation and enjoyment thereof and to receive the rents, issues and profits thereof for and during the term of her life and as regards my personal estate to permit my wife to have the use and enjoyment of all my household furniture and effects for the term of her life
  • And as regards the remainder of my personal estate upon trust to convert into money such parts thereof as shall not consist of money and pay my expenses and invest the rest in trust to pay the income thereof to my wife during the term of her life
  • And after the decease of my wife, I direct my trustees to sell the whole of my real and personal estate with the exception of the furniture hereinafter bequeathed and to stand possessed of the proceeds of such sale
  • One third part to my wife’s daughter Jane the widow of Samuel Stanford of Kidderminster and should she predecease me or my wife in trust for her child or children and if more than one in equal share as
  • Another third part to my wife’s daughter Julia the wife of John Cave of Aldenby Lodge, Northamptonshire, and in case she should predecease me or my wife in trust for her child or children and if more than one in equal shares
  • And to the remaining one third part to pay equally between Arthur Edward Rogers Taylor of Aldington, Market Gardener, and Julia Rogers, children of my wife’s son, George Rogers deceased.
  • I bequeath all my household furniture and effects to Jane Stanford
