1851 Census
Census Date: Sunday 30th March 1851
New questions for 1851 were: relation to head of family, marital status and whether blind or deaf and dumb. Unlike in 1841, where ages were usually rounded to the nearest five years, in 1851 exact ages were given. In addition, the 1851 return was more specific with regard to place of birth, the parish and county of birth being given.
People are listed in the order recorded by the enumerator as he walked around the village. Information about the household includes: the schedule number, the address as given on the census, the folio number and page number (to help if looking at the original census return in a Record Office).
These records were transcribed by Maureen Spinks, Tom Locke and Richard Phillips.
