Sladden family group taken in the grounds of Seward House, c1903. It is thought that the photograph was taken to celebrate the Silver Wedding anniversary of Julius and Eugénie Sladden and was given to them as a gift from their eight children. A card saying, “This represents a photograph of the family which the Poultry Company [a nickname for the Sladden siblings] wish to have taken at Christmas in remembrance of your Silver Wedding Day, Dec 15 1902.” The card has become separated from the photograph, but the approximate ages of the people pictured would tend to indicate a date of 1902/1903.
