The Wellingtonia tree outside Pool House (Nos 23 & 25), High Street, Badsey, with the flag flying for Jubilee Day. The flag was placed there in the dead of night by three young Badsey men – Lol Bindoff, Clint Evans and Mick - as immortalised in Norman Cleaver’s poems, Badsey at Play and Hoisting the Jubilee Jack. The tree, which had played a colourful part in the life of Badsey villagers, and with a long tradition of people scaling its heights, was felled in 1980 and the remaining stump finally removed in 1999.
