On Thursday 2nd June 1977, Badsey celebrated the Silver Jubilee of Elizabeth II. A Jubilee Queen and her attendant rode in state round the village, houses were gaily decorated, a flag was place at the top of the Wellingtonia tree, a pig was roasted, pensioners had a fine meal at the Remembrance Hall, and fun and games were had at the cricket ground.
In May 2020, Josie Dudfield borrowed a photo album belonging to Becky Stanley (née Caswell) which contained many photos relating to the day. Josie scanned the photos and placed them on Facebook. With Josie and Becky’s permission, Shirley Tutton copied the phots and forwarded them to Maureen Spinks so that they have now been made available for all to see.
