1972 wedding – Brian Smith & Hazel Whiting

Wedding of Brian John Smith and Hazel Mary Whiting on 29th July 1972 at the Church of St John the Baptist, Wickhamford.  The best man was Brian Jelfs, the Vicar was Peter Braby, and the reception was held at Wickhamford Village Hall.

Brian Smith lived at 4 Bretforton Road, Badsey, the son of Tom & Doris Smith (who had married at St James’ Church, Badsey in 1933).  Hazel lived at 59 Pitchers Hill, Wickhamford, the daughter of Jack & Connie Whiting.  Twenty-six years earlier, Hazel’s parents had also married at Wickhamford.

The gravestone on the right is that of John & Sarah Taylor, Hazel’s 3xgreat-grandparents.  The Taylors were tenant farmers at Elm Farm, Wickhamford from 1817.  This was only discovered in recent years when tracing Hazel’s family history!
