This picture was taken in about 1938, outside of the Tea Room at Leystones Garage, Longdon Hill, Wickhamford. The garage was owned by Ernest Sturt, who probably took this photograph.
The young couple at the back are his son, Cecil, and his girl friend from when the family lived in Bacup, Lancashire, Lena Lord. The lady seated on the right is Lena's mother, Mary Lord. The other lady seated at the table is Madge Sturt, the wife of Cecil's brother, Stan.
The young couple sitting on the grass are Millie Lord, Lena's sister, and her fiance, Horace Wilson. The older lady sitting on the grass is Clara Sturt, Cecil's mother.
The couple on either side at the back have not been identified. They may have accompanied the Lord family on their visit to Wickhamford from Lancashire or they may have been friends of the Sturt family.
Other photographs of the garage can be seen in the 'Places' section and these include two where the unidentified couple are present.
The photograph was kindly supplied by Lena Lord's son, Michael Forshaw. He and Pam Corbett, Cecil Sturt's daughter, supplied the information on the people shown.
