Laurence Dudley Stamp (1898-1966) was the editor of The Land of Britain series, which was the report of the Land Utilisation Survey of Britain. This was a comprehensive survey of land use in Great Britain in the 1930s and was the first survey of such a magnitude since the Domesday Book survey in the 11th century. Stamp was one of the best known British geographers of the 20th century.
Keith McPherson Buchanan (1919-1997) was a one-time Professor of Geography at Victoria University College, Wellington, New Zealand. When the Worcestershire volume described here was published in 1944, he was working in Birmingham.
