Fruit-growing in Avon Valley

The map on the left shows the area of orchards in ca 1880 around Evesham and the area of new orchards planted up to 1908.  It shows that only a very small area of orchard had been grubbed in that period.  On the right, the map shows the extent of further orchard planting between 1908 and 1932, again with very little grubbing. (The black area here is the same as the total area in the first map.)
