42 High Street
Present-day address: Badsey Hall, 42 High Street, Badsey
A detached house built probably in the 16th century, but its origins are obscure. It has been known as The Manor House in the past, but the claim to this title may have arisen from a mistaken 19th-century house agent. For most of the 20th century it was known as The Stone House but it is now called Badsey Hall. From the 1860s to the 1880s it was used as a girls’ boarding school, when it was known as Montpelier House.
