DEATH OF MRS P J BUTLER

We regret to announce the death of Mrs Rosa Lilian Butler, wife of Mr Percy J Butler, of The Farm, Blackminster, which took place at here home on Wednesday evening.  Mrs Butler, who was 56 years of age, was the only daughter of the late Mr & Mrs George Stokes of Stroud.  Educated at Stonehourse High School, she took up nursing, receiving her training at Gloucester.  Her first post on the completion of her training was at Cardiff in a private nursing home.  After a short period at Stroud and Birmingham she came to the Evesham district 35 years ago, and during 30 years had carried out nursing, both private and district, in the neighbourhood.  She was well-known ad highly respected by a wide circle of friends.

She is survived by her husband, one son and one daughter, with whom much sympathy is expressed.

The funeral will take place at St James’ Church, Badsey, on Monday afternoon at 2.30.

BADSEY – BLACKMINSTER NURSE’S DEATH

Well-known in the district for her nursing activities, Mrs Rose Lilian Butler, 56, wife of Mr P J Butler of The Farm, Blackminster, died on Wednesday last week after a short illness.  A daughter of the late Mr & Mrs G Stokes of Stroud, Mrs Butler held the LOS and the CMB certificates.  She leaves a husband, one son and one daughter.

The daughter took place on Monday, the service being conducted by the Vicar (Canon W C Allsebrook).  The hymns “Art thou weary” and “Abide with me” being sung.

The family mourners were:  Mr P J Butler (widower), Mr R Butler (son), Miss R Butler (daughter), Mrs R Butler (daughter-in-law), Mrs H Gadd, Miss H Gadd (cousins), Messrs Bert & James Stokes (cousins), Mr & Mrs E Butler (brother and sister-in-law), Mr W Butler (brother-in-law), Mrs Cullen (niece), Mr Percy Cotterell (cousin), Mr C Spring (nephew).
