BADSEY WEDDING

The marriage took place at St James’ Church, Badsey, on Saturday of Miss Jean Muriel Knight, youngest daughter of Mrs T Knight and the late Mr T Knight of 4 Cotswold View, Badsey, and Corporal Arthur Cyril Rouse, youngest son of Mr & Mrs Rouse of Littleton.  The Vicar, Canon W C Allsebrook, officiated.  The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr William Bennett senior, was attired in a dress of sapphire blue with wine-coloured accessories.  She wore a spray of white carnations and carried an ivory prayer book.  The bride on arrival at the church was met at the entrance by the choir and the hymn “Lead us, Heavenly Father, lead us” was sung.  Mr C Sharp was at the organ.  On leaving the church the bride was presented with silver horseshoes by Master David Rouse, nephew of the groom, and Master Gerald Emms.  Mr R Rouse, brother of the bridegroom, was best man.  A reception was held at the Montfort Café, Evesham.  Several greetings telegrams were received, including one from the brother of the bride, Petty Officer R E Knight, serving with the Royal Navy at sea.  The happy couple were the recipients of many handsome presents, including one from the staff of Messrs Collins Bros, with whom the bride was formerly employed; one from the staff of the LMS, Evesham, where she is at present employed in the office, and a blue leather dress case from the Badsey branch of the British Red Cross VAD, of which the bride is a member.  Later the bride and bridegroom left for their honeymoon, which was spent at Kenilworth, the bride travelling in her wedding dress over which she wore a wine-coloured coat.  Their future temporary home will be at 4 Cotswold View, Badsey.
