BADSEY

A colourful wedding took place on Saturday afternoon at the Parish Church of St James between Miss Lucy Sadler, only daughter of Mr & Mrs W Sadler of Badsey and Mr William Moran, RAF, son of Mr & Mrs Moran of Halifax.  Canon W C Allsebrook officiated.  The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a dress of white cloque with buttons from neck to hem and a headdress of orange blossom with a veil to form a train.  She carried a bouquet of red carnations.  The bridesmaids were Misses Vera Sadler and Audrey Salter who wore ankle length dresses of turquoise mus-crepe with pink buttons from neck to hem and trimmed with pink net.  They carried bouquets of pink chrysanthemums and wore gold crosses and chains which were the gifts of the bridegroom.  They also wore feather headdresses of pink and blue.  Two tiny bridesmaids were Misses Wendy Sale and Jennifer Salter who wore ankle length dresses of rose romaine trimmed with blue ribbon and headdresses of pale pink ostrich feathers and carried posies of mixed single asters.  They also wore silver bangles which were the gifts of the bridegroom.  On leaving the church door the bride and bridegroom were presented with a silver horseshoe by Master Geoffrey Brookes.  Mr L Salter was best man.  The reception was held at the bride’s home at which about 80 guests attended.  The bride and bridegroom received over 50 presents, including a mirror, cruet and candlesticks from members of the Badsey Women’s Institute, of which the bride is a member.  The bride’s gift to the bridegroom was an engraved silver cigarette case and the bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a gold locket and chain.  The honeymoon is being spent at Blackpool.
