WED AT ST JAMES, BADSEY – Miss M E Wilkins – Mr J Addis

The marriage was solemnised at St James’ Church, Badsey, on Saturday of Miss Mavis Eileen Wilkins, only daughter of Mr & Mrs Percy Wilkins of No 49 Synehurst Avenue, Badsey, and Mr John Addis, youngest son of Mrs M ~Addis of No 5 Evesham Road, Harvington.  The service was conducted by the Vicar, Rev W B Chapman, and Mrs G W Marshall was the organist.

The bride, who was given away by her father, was charmingly attired in white net over taffeta, a full length veil with headdress kept in position with a wreath of orange blossom, and silver coloured shoes to tone.  She carried a bouquet of red carnations with trailing fern.  Her bridesmaids were Miss Christine Jelfs (cousin) and Miss Joyce Smith (cousin), both being attired in lilac net over taffeta, with shoes and headdress to match.  They carried bouquets of pink tulips and trailing fern.  The best man was Mr R Addis (brother of the bridegroom).

The bride’s gift to the bridegroom was an electric razor and the groom’s present to the bride was her travelling coat.  The bridegroom presented each bridesmaid with a diamante necklace.

A native of Badsey, the bride has been employed at Boots (Chemists) Ltd, Evesham, for the past seven years, while the bridegroom, who is a native of Harvington, is employed by W A Cox (Evesham) Ltd.

Mr & Mrs Addis received numerous handsome and useful presents from relatives and friends.  After the service, the bride placed her bouquet on the grave of her grandmother.  A reception was held at the Montfort Café, Evesham, where a large gathering was entertained.  Later the couple let for their honeymoon in London, the bride travelling in a beige fitting coat with accessories to match.
