MISS P D GOODALL AND MR P A HORNE
The marriage took place at St James’ Church, Badsey, on Saturday afternoon of Miss Phyllis Doreen Goodall, second daughter of Mr & Mrs Goodall of Park Road, Blockley, and Mr Peter Alan Horne, youngest son of Mr & Mrs P Horne of 9 Gordon Gardens, Edgware, Middlesex. The ceremony was performed by the Vicar, Reg J G Jeffreys.
The bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in a white brocaded satin gown with veil held in place with a feathered headdress. She carried a shower bouquet of dark red dahlias and trailing fern. She was attended by one bridesmaid, Miss Ivy Goodall, her sister, who wore a dress of blue silk and a pink feathered headdress, while she carried a bouquet of pink dahlias and trailing fern.
Mr A G Badham, Badsey, uncle of the bride, was best man. Music during the ceremony was provided at the organ by the Vicar, Rev J G Jeffreys. The gift of the bridegroom to the bridesmaid was a pair of earrings.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Blenheim House, Badsey, home of the bride’s uncle, where several guests were entertained. Later in the day the happy couple left for their honeymoon which is being spent in London, the bride travelling in a blue and white dress with brown accessories and oatmeal coat. They were the recipients of numerous beautiful and useful presents.
As the couple were leaving the church the bride was presented with two silver horseshoes, one by Master David Goodall, the bride’s brother, and one by Mrs Driver.
For 4½ years the bridegroom served in the Gloucestershire Regiment, seeing service throughout the Burma campaign. He was educated at Camrose School, Edgware, Middlesex, and is now on the staff of the Co-operative Society in Edgware. The bride was educated at Chipping Campden Grammar School and is on the staff of Rouse’s Garage, Blockley.
