weddingMiss M I Bell – Mr P G A Wheatley

Married at St James’ Church, Badsey, on Tuesday were Miss Margaret Irene (Peggy) Bell, younger daughter of Mr & Mrs Ralph bell of Elm Cottage, Aldington, and Mr Patrick George Alexander Wheatley, younger son of Mrs and the late Mr Arthur Wheatley of Upper End Farm, Bretforton.

The Vicar, the Rev W B Chapman, officiated and Mrs G W Marshall was at the organ.

The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a model gown of blue lace with cream feathered hat and shoes to tone.  She carried a bouquet of cream and blue freesias.  She was attended by one bridesmaid, Miss Avis Bell, her sister, and by Mrs Beryl Osborne, her friend, as matron of honour.  Both Miss Bell and Mrs Osborne were attired in dresses of cream shantung silk with blue accessories and carried bouquets of blue and cream freesias.  Mr Peter Osborne, friend of both bride and groom, was best man.

As the couple left the church, the bride was presented with lucky horseshoes by Master Charles Wheatley (the bridegroom’s nephew), Miss V Lippett (the groom’s niece) and Baby Patrick Smith (nephew of the groom).

A reception was held at The Royal Oak Assembly Room, Badsey, where numerous guests were entertained.  Later Mr & Mrs Wheatley left for their honeymoon which is being spent in London, the bride travelling in a green suit with beige accessories and an off white coat.  They will make their future home at Upper End Farm, Bretforton.

Both the bride and groom are well known in the Vale.  The bride, a native of Aldington, is a member of Evesham Ladies’ Hockey Club and a member of Badsey Women’s Institute.  The groom has many interests, and for several years has been a member of the Victoria Arms Darts Club.  They were the recipients of numerous presents.
