BADSEY BRIDE, EVESHAM GROOM
Miss B Tomkins – Mr R Woodcock

On Saturday at St James’ Church, Badsey, Miss Brenda Tomkins, second daughter of Mr & Mrs C F Tomkins of Ferndene, Bretforton Road, Badsey, married Mr Ronald Woodcock, eldest son of Mr & Mrs A Woodcock of Coronation Street, Evesham.

Given away by her father, the bride wore a pink velvet embossed nylon dress and a pink headdress.  Her bouquet comprised pin carnations and lilies of the valley.

Best man was the groom’s brother, Mr David Woodcock.  Miss Alison Perkins, the only bridesmaid, wore a blue organdie dress with a pink headdress and carried a posy of small flowers.

The service was conducted by the Vicar of Badsey, the Rev W B Chapman, with Mrs G Marshall at the organ for the singing of the hymn, “Lead us, Heavenly Father, lead us”.  After the ceremony, a reception was held at The Royal Oak Assembly Room, Badsey.

The bride is a native of Badsey and was educated at Prince Henry’s Grammar School, Evesham, and is now on the staff of the Evesham & District Butchers’ Association, who gave her a cheque as a wedding present.

The groom is employed by Messrs Espley Ltd of Evesham, who presented him with a clock.  The couple received numerous other presents.

When Mr & Mrs Woodcock left for their honeymoon in London, the bride was travelling in a blue suit with lemon accessories.
