She was attended by Mrs Marjorie Syril (matron of honour), her sister-in-law; Miss Pauline Lewis, niece of bridegroom; and Miss Enid Major, a friend. The two elder bridesmaids wore dresses of blue satin with feathered headdresses and carried muffs to tone. The younger bridesmaid was dressed in pink taffeta and carried a muff. They carried bouquets of spring flowers. Corporal Jack Boden of Manchester was best man.
The service was conducted by the Vicar of Badsey, the Rev W B Chapman, and Mrs G Marshall, organist, play the Bridal March as the happy couple left the church. The local band of ringers also chimed St James’ bells, and at the church door the bride was presented with lucky horseshoes by baby Linda Barron, Master Roy Syril (nephew of the bride), Miss Rita Toney (sister of groom) and Master Brian Lewis (nephew of groom).
Over 40 guests were enterained at the reception held at the Royal Oak Assembly Room.
