Badsey Bells Ring Wedding Peal

Local ringers chimed a merry wedding peal on the bells of St James’ Church, Badsey, on Tuesday, at the wedding of Miss Peggy Diana Sears, youngest daughter of Mrs B A Sears and the late Mr Sears of Plas Gwyn, Badsey, and Mr Arnold Lewis, only son of Mr & Mrs W A Lewis of Mitcham, Surrey.  The Rev W B Chapman, Vicar, officiated, and a feature of the service was the singing of the 23rd psalm by Mr Henry King, the accompanist being Mrs G Marshall.

Given away by her brother, Mr A C Sears, the bride wore brocade silk with veil held in place by a headdress of deep autumn roses, and she carried a bouquet of similar roses with maidenhair fern.

Her attendants were Miss Joan Woodward, friend, Miss Bridget Sheppard, niece, and Mrs E Carter, bridegroom’s sister, as matron of honour.  All were attired in eau de nil brocade satin and carried bouquets of deep cream roses with maidenhair fern.  Mr E Carter, bridegroom’s brother-in-law, was best man.

Bride and bridegroom later left for a motoring honeymoon in North Devon, the bride travellin in powder blue georgette suit with hat and accessories to tone.
