BADSEY WEDDING
The wedding took place at St James’ Church, Badsey, on Wednesday, of Miss Patricia Mustoe, fifth daughter of Mrs and the late Mr E Mustoe of The Orchards, Badsey, and Mr Leonard Charles Lord, third son of Mr & Mrs S Lord of Middle Littleton.
The ceremony was conducted by the Rev W B Chapman, and Mrs G Marshall was at the organ. Given away by her brother, Mr E L Mustoe, the bride was attired in cream broderie Anglaise lace over satin with her veil held in place with a headdress of pearls. She carried a bouquet of dark red roses with trailing fern. The four bridesmaids, Susan Mustoe, Patsy Stewart and Ruth Coward (nieces of the bride) and Sally Wright (niece of the groom), wore period dresses of white satin with deep red velvet sashes and small bonnets to match. Their bouquets were posies of anemones. The best man was Mr William Lord of Cotheridge, Worcester (brother of the groom). On leaving the church the bride was presented with a horseshoe and heather by her aunt, a wooden spoon by her nephew, Alan Mustoe, and a silver horseshoe from her niece, Vicky Mustoe. About 80 guests were entertained at the reception at The Royal Oak Assembly Room, Badsey. On Thursday Mr & Mrs Lord left for their honeymoon at Kingston-on-Thames, the bride travelling in a navy coat over a royal blue dress and a navy hat.
The bridge is a native of Badsey and was educated at Badsey Council School and Prince Henry’s Grammar School. Since leaving school she has been employed by Mr Dick Beach of Evesham, apart from four years which she spent serving in the ATS during the last war. The groom was also in HM Forces during the war, serving for five years as a Petty Officer in the Navy. He was educated at Christopher Whitehead School, Worcester, and is now a popular member of the staff of the Midland “Red” where he is employed as a bus driver. Mr & Mrs Lord were the recipient so numerous presents including a cheque from Mr Dick Beach and a handsome overmantle from the staff of the Midland “Red” and Caps Café.
