My Darling Wife,
Now that I have about concluded my day’s work I must write you a few lines before I go to dinner. I have been quite busy, sent out a nice little lot altogether including Chipping Norton orders by rail the remainder by carriers and into the town, to-morrow there is nearly a ton to go, if we could only keep on at that rate this winter time it would be very good. I bought 20 quarters of barley in the market to-day as we must keep the malting going if possible for another 4 months. I had a letter from Mr Ridgeway senior just now saying that he hoped his son would be here to-morrow but his face had been very painful, Mr R. enquired politely after you. I have written to Polly and if I get no telegram shall conclude she is with you in the evening.
And now I wonder how my “little woman” has been going on to-day, and our dear little one too, pretty well I hope, it is not nice being apart but it won't be for long and we have so much cause to be happy have we not my darling? And now good night my pet, kiss our bonnie boy for me, and with fondest love to yourself
