My Dearest Wife,

It is market day so I shall not be able to write a very long letter.

We are all getting on very well, the children are really very jolly they each gave me a kiss this morning to send to Mamma.   I went to Aldington last night and spent a pleasant evening, Mrs Savory fixed Monday (to-day) for Jack & Baby to go to tea instead of Thursday so I expect they have been enjoying themselves this afternoon.

Jacky does not seem to quite understand your being away especially when he comes into our room of a morning but he is a very good boy and seems happy & contented, little baby laughs away as usual.  Ridgeway is going down with me this evening as I have to come up again after dinner and attend a meeting about the municipal election.  I hope you are enjoying yourself my darling and I shall be glad to join you on Wednesday.  With much love

I remain as ever

Your affectionate husband

Julius Sladden

Love to Polly, Fred & the children
