My Dearest Eugénie,
I sent a telegram this morning after breakfast to let you know of my arrival and suppose you will get it sent down to-day some time. I had a good journey and got a fair amount of sleep it certainly is a splendid train and there was a through carriage at Worcester which made it the more comfortable by avoiding a change of seats. I got to the house before they were down, George did not come to meet me as he was not quite sure which station I should arrive at. Charlotte came last night she is rather thin and will be the better for a change I expect. I have not lost my hoarseness quite and have a cold in one eye however I shall take it easy to-day and to-morrow and then try and have a few excursions next week. I hope the chicks are good and happy kiss them all for papa.
I hope you will not be dull on Sunday and shall be glad to hear that you have Miss Pollard on Monday. We forgot the sock between us, Charlotte said she would like to try it on so you could send it by post for 2d. The roses travelled well and also the fruit and vegetable and they seemed pleased with them, of course Charlotte arranged the flowers. When Miss Pollard comes I should be glad if you could do a little disbudding etc. We are going to dine at 1.30 so I will conclude.
With fond love, my little wife, believe me ever
Your affectionate Husband
Julius Sladden
All send their love.
