My Dearest Eugénie,
I have had a letter from you by each post to-day and was glad to hear about your Deal visit, give May a kiss and tell her Papa is pleased to know that she behaved nicely and will like to hear that she is a good girl at Ramsgate. It was very good of Aunt Susan to think of the children and I hope May thanked her great uncle G. nicely, by the way I wrote to him yesterday telling him a little about my change in the business. I had a letter from Miss Hougham this morning to acknowledge the receipt of a brace of birds I sent her, I am so glad to hear a better account of her, she seemed to think you looking very well and was pleased with our little daughter. Jack and Kitty gave me kisses this morning for you and May, they have been hop-picking to-day much to their delight and Charlotte will take them to-morrow again if fine. Mother continues to improve and hopes to get a short airing on Wednesday, she will like to start on 26th and thinks she will be strong enough by then. Charlotte heard from Edith to-day the latter was going to ask you to Guston on Saturday, you could not well manage more than the day but if convenient perhaps it would be as well to go and see them. I have not yet been able to see Haynes about the lying in ticket. I am so glad you are enjoying your trip but I shall be quite ready to have you home again my dear wife. The weather is simply perfect and we have such nice roses for the time of year. Tell Polly I wish all her little party could be here for a day in the hop garden.
