My Dearest Eugénie,
I will write a few lines to tell you of my safe arrival last night and to tell you that I have got over my bilious attack. I have thought about you often to-day and wondered how you were getting on. I shall be so glad to hear you are getting on well.
How did your father stand the rough passage?
I think you will be so glad to see him. Everybody here is so sorry that you are laid up and all friends send love. I have been to see Aunt Susan who seems pretty well. On Tuesday shall go to Deal when I hope to see Miss Hougham and take her one of the pheasants I brought from Surbiton. Tell Fanny I hope they will pull through all her worries without knocking up.
Kiss my little Kitty for me when she comes over and with much love believe me ever.
Your affectionate Husband
Julius Sladden
You shall hear again to-morrow
