My Dear Kathleen,
I will write just a few lines this evening that you may not miss your periodical letter.
I shall leave here tomorrow, Thursday, morning and expect to reach Evesham at 7.23. Arthur has made a good start in his new form and was 3rd the first week, he has got his uniform for the Cadet corps. Grannie is fairly well but sad at times.
Yesterday we went to Ash and Rosway by the early train and returned in time for supper. I just saw Jack in London he had come out pretty well 10th out of 40 in the test exam for arithmetic, senior class, scoring 260 out of 350.
Grannie liked your book “The Mistress of Brae Farm” and is sending it back by me.
I have had nice weather here, it is really quite hot, and have enjoyed a little sea air. Mrs Marsh (aunt Bessie’s sister) is here. I last saw her in 1867. She has aged very much but is bright. Auntie Lottie was glad to hear about your school she would like to come herself and see you another year, she sends her love. My watch keeps time all right, it only wanted winding!
