My dearest Wife,

I must drop you a few lines early this morning as we shall be starting for Deal about noon and are going to spend one night at Sandwich.

We have glorious weather and are enjoying ourselves.

I think you will pleased with Dilnot he is all that I imagined him to be and such a refined type of a Colonist.

I hope May was able to get across London comfortably but we could not see her into her cab at Paddington as we were obliged to hurry off to catch our train at Victoria.  I wonder how the dance went off and shall be rather interested to learn.

Last night we went to a capital performance at the theatre “The eldest Miss Blossom”, in which the Kendals are playing, it is their first visit to Folkestone, May came with us.  I called to see Polly yesterday and took Dilnot she is pretty well again and they had quite a chat about old times.  To-morrow morning we shall have a good look round Ash and see Aunt Susan of course Dilnot is very interested in seeing all the old faces and localities and we have not yet got to the end of all our recollections, he will be in London from time to time and will like to see something of Jack.  Grannie is about as she was in May last, she came down yesterday for an hour or two in our honour. John and Charlotte are both well and they met us at the station.  Marian came to spend the day yesterday as she is leaving for Bristol to-morrow.

I hope you have got the bottle of Port for Jack and I have sent a case of three bottles for him to take back.  I expect you seem a small party now.  Kiss Juliet for me and tell her the new uncle will come soon.

With much love to you dear and to those at home

I am ever
Your affectionate Husband

Julius Sladden

I wrote to Cyril yesterday.
