My dearest Wife,
I must post a letter this evening so that you may hear from me on Monday.
My post card will have told you that I arrived at Deal in good time on Friday. George met me at the station. I found them all well but Charlotte soon gets tired, Aunt George was at Petone and we played bridge after supper.
Saturday morning I trained over here and rode the bicycle back to Deal in time for lunch. Frank is vastly better as regards his mental capacity and able to walk about much better than he could six months ago, his chief difficulty now is stomach trouble and he gets a good deal of pain at times, he sleeps better fortunately.
Edith has had sciatica but is better, Norah has neuralgia with a swollen face and is in bed to-day, I think Edith would be glad if you invited her down (I mean Norah) next month for a change.
After lunch yesterday, George, Maidie and I had a good cycle ride through Kingsdown and nearly to St Margarets getting back in time to go to Rosway for tea and supper, there of course we had a lot of bridge Charlotte distinguishing herself by play of the most appalling description! I took the last train here where of course I slept and am also staying to-night.
George came here to-day after early dinner and he and I have been over to Ash to see Austen Gardner.
This morning I went to S. Peter’s church by myself. To-morrow George and I have an appointment for 11 A.M. at Emmersons office and afterwards I shall go back to Deal, I propose to leave there at 2.5 on Tuesday and should be able to catch the 6.15 from Paddington so please direct Evans to meet me with the trap at Evesham at 8.30 so that I can drive down.
I think I must write a few lines to Jack as it is my turn I believe.
We have had it fine here with the exception of a sharp shower last evening which did not interfere with me.
I am afraid Maidie will not be able to get to Badsey, much to her regret, but she has been kept away from Kent so much that they do not like the idea of sparing her for two or three days and of course it is a long journey to take for only one night even if that could be arranged.
I hear Mary has been invited for next year but her answer has yet to come.
