My dearest Wife,
Ethel has just despatched other G.F.S. girls, seven in number and has now started the practice for the carol singers, Mela has gone over to see Mrs Ashwin so I may as well write you a few lines to post in the morning so that you may hear before Sunday.
I find the train connection at Reading is altogether bad so you had better go up to London and take a fast train, I think if you were to arrange to lunch at Paddington about 1 o’clock and then take the 1.45P.M. due at Evesham at 4.17 it would be a comfortable plan and then some of us could meet you with a fly.
I came down to lunch to-day and cycled back through Littleton, I did not see Mr Adkins as he was dozing, he has not been down stairs for a week or more and seems to be gradually weakening, I should think it probable he may not see this year out.
I was interested to hear about the confirmation from Ethel and hope you are none the worse for your late hours that evening. Also that you have steered clear of the prevailing colds at Marshgate House.
The black pussy is continually going up to your room to look for you and will no doubt welcome you back, together with the rest of the household.
We expect May to come down on Sunday, that train is much improved leaves London at 4P.M. and reaches Evesham at 7.11. I suppose Mary has left Richmond, is Harry all right again.
I brought your little clock down to-day Ethel approves of it so hope you will like it too. A parcel has arrived for you, I expect it may be the hot water plate, Mela seems very cheerful and is glad to be in Badsey again.
I see by the enclosed letter you have had to give a little rebuke to Mary Jelfs.
I hope Polly is well, my love to her and with much to yourself
