My dearest Wife,
I was very glad to have May’s letter this morning. I wrote to Capt Hunt yesterday, saying I could not get away, for I thought I had better not await seeing his first letter this morning a second one has arrived (crossing mine) which I enclose, also one from Polly.
I think you will do better to go through London on your journey home and then you can get lunch comfortably before starting and there is a tea car on the 4.55 you may not catch that but the 6.15 is an excellent new fast train, if you have to wait for that you could get tea during the interval. I am glad Jack can meet you.
Mrs Gepp and Bonnie came over yesterday and spent much of the day with us. Brewer has gone completely off his head and had to be taken to Barnsley Hall Asylum on Saturday.
I am glad to have such good accounts of you, dear but shall be very glad to get you home now. Love to all.
Your affectionate Husband
