My dearest Wife,

I was very glad to get your last letter of 23rd at Bergen.  I shall post this at Newcastle to-morrow morning on arrival together with many sheets of diary which should give you a fair impression of our doings, especially when you can re-read it at home and refer to picture post cards we are bringing.

I hardly think I can go to ?      so soon as Aug 9th you had better forward me Cecil Hunt’s letter and I will write him and explain perhaps we might go a little later if they can have us.  With regard to Judy’s invitation, Kath thinks Hester is much her senior and probably has other friends staying at times in a similar manner and of course with the approval of Miss Grierson, I shall raise no objection but would rather you did not let her go if you felt a little uneasy about it.

We are not having quite so calm a passage this time, the girls did not turn up to breakfast but have had a little dinner on deck and are about to try some tea.  I felt a trifle churned up in the morning and Jack also but we managed our two o’clock dinner comfortably.  We have had quite a memorable holiday but I shall be glad to get home again and the more pleased when you arrive too dear Wife.

Your loving Husband

Julius Sladden

My love to Charlotte, I think she did well in suggesting a bath chair and you in taking one.
