My own dear Jess
I heard your news from Joyce when I got back yesterday.
I’m so sorry, but I don’t know what I can say to you. I know you’ll feel as if the shock of it had cut the very ground away from under your feet, but this time will pass, and the memory of your Mother will hallow the work of your lifetime and help it to be greater as nothing else on earth can.
Come back as soon as they can spare you, I hope it will be quite soon.
Don’t bother to write unless there is anything I can do for you; if I can help I shall be so glad to.
God bless you dear and help you now.
With love from your friend
Freda
