CATHOLIC CEREMONY AT EVESHAM – Miss J Sandford & Mr F M Dooley 

The marriage was solemnised at St Mary's Catholic Church, Evesham, on Wednesday week, of Miss Jean Sandford, only daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Sandford, of 32 Synehurst, Badsey, and Mr Frederick M Dooley, third son of Mr and the late Mrs J Dooley, of Boston, Massachusetts, USA. The ceremony was performed by Father A J Proudman. 

Miss Sandford, who was given away by her father, was attired in white lace over taffeta with a wreath and veil, white shoes and white gloves, and carried a prayer book. She was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Rosemary Newbury (cousin) and Miss Marjorie Littlewood (friend), who wore dresses of pale blue taffeta with velvet trimmings, headdresses to tone and white shoes and gloves. They carried posies of forget-me-nots, lilies of the valley and fern. Two little pageboys. Master Roger Hatch (cousin of the bridegroom) and Master Douglas Littlewood (a friend), were attired in white blouses, blue velvet trousers and black leather shoes. Mr Kenneth Treadwell, a friend of the bridegroom, was best man. After the service the bride was presented with lucky mementos by Miss Marjorie Littlewood and Master Douglas Littlewood. A reception was held at Mr S J Grove's cafe, where 50 guests were entertained.  

The bridegroom presented pearls to the bridesmaids and gold tiepins to the pageboys. Later, Mr & Mrs Dooley travelled to London, where the honeymoon is being spent. The bride is a native of Badsey and was educated at Prince Henry's Grammar School, Evesham. After leaving school she was employed for a short time in Evesham, but three years ago she moved to London, where she was employed until her marriage. The bridegroom is in the US Air Force and stationed at Brize Norton. Mr & Mrs Dooley will make their home for the time being at Brize Norton.
