My dear Juliet

I am very sorry indeed to hear of your great loss. It is very sad for all of you, especially for your brothers who are away. Surely this was very sudden and quite unexpected, wasn’t it? That is better for your Mother herself of course though harder on all the people she leaves behind.

There is very little than one can say on these occasions of course, except that one is sorry and that is of very little use. I hope you will be so busy in the term that it will take the edge off a bit for you.

Yours very sincerely
Dorothy M Grierson
