My Dearest Eugénie,
I was glad to get your letter of yesterday’s date this morning and to hear that May was such a good girl, give her a kiss for me and tell her Papa will like to have his little daughter home again. I hope you will have a fine day for your trip to Guston to-morrow. Mother is pretty well again now and has nearly got up her strength, she went to-day to see Mrs Savory as she wished, if possible to go and say good bye to her, Mrs Savory was not quite so weak and had taken a little fresh cold but she came down stairs. Charlotte thinks you might find a tile in one of the Ramsgate shops to stand the drawing room lamp on, for it is rather spoiling the cabinet, she says she can buy them in Canterbury as low as 4d. I see the diameter should be rather over 6 inches and the tile should be flat, not on legs, round or square. Have you, with Fred’s aid, yet concocted a begging letter for the Church to Miss Robinson? Please do not forget this little matter. What train do you propose to travel by on Tuesday? You must see how the trains run to Victoria, if it fits in I think it would be better for the child to come by 2.15 from Paddington but of course the 4.45 would do, let me know when next you write. I hope Polly soon lost her head-ache, give her my love. The chicks send kisses they are quite well and happy, Baby has had a little cold in one eye but she does not mind it. I shall be so glad to have you home again and wish I were going to find you upstairs when I go to bed presently.
Believe me ever
Your loving Husband
