My Dearest Wife,

You will have had my hurried line yesterday and I am afraid to-day I have not left time enough to write much of a letter, I seem regularly overdone with work and shall be glad to get a few days’ rest.  I mean to try and come up on Saturday although I expect I shall have to leave things in a muddle. I have not received any letter from you to-day.  Tell Polly her Stout shall go on to-morrow.  Jack & May spent the day at Aldington on Monday, took their lesson books down there much to their delight, for Mr Savory was out and Cynthia who had expected to go with him was dull, I hear they are good with their lessons.  The babies are flourishing.

Now I must close with much love believe me ever

Your affectionate Husband

Julius Sladden
