My Dearest Wife,
I arrived here last night in time for dinner. Met Charlotte all right and saw them off for Richmond, forgot to tell her to write, also about the [?] for there was not much time. May was very good but rather quiet, she went off very happy with her auntie. It is fine and warm this morning and I am going to walk down to the sea directly. Hope the chicks are good give them all a kiss and with much love believe me ever your affect Husband
