My Dearest Wife,
I received yours of 25th this morning and hope the cab strike has not further postponed your journey to Bourg, as it will be well to get that job off your mind as soon as possible. I was sorry you were not feeling just the thing when you wrote but trust it was only a very temporary ailment. I have been to Bromsgrove to-day where it rained heavily but there was not so much here, we want a warm dry time now but the weather seems very unsettled as yet. The children are all well and seem jolly enough as you may imagine. I do not find Miss Fabling very entertaining in fact I think I had almost as soon (if not sooner) be alone, I make as much as I can of the children’s company till they go to bed. Mr Jones is to be buried to-morrow, Thursday at 3 o’clock. I expect you are very pleased with the ring which belonged to your Mother and I am very glad your Father made you such a nice present. I conclude you have written to Ash as to your time of arrival &c and presume you will travel on Friday night as projected. I shall send my next letter there. May has written you a few lines to enclose in this and Jack will write another time, he was pleased to have your letter. Give my love to your Father &c and commend me to all Paris friends. Baby is very good and jolly, all the chicks send kisses and with much love
believe me ever
Your affectionate Husband
