The Crown

St Edward’s Crown was made in 1611 for Charles II and is the most sacred of all the crowns. It is used solely at the moment of crowing a new monarch at their coronation. The crown is 12 inches tall, wighs 2.23 kg and is made from solid god set with 444 semi-precious stones. The overall design has 4 cross pattée, 4 fleurs-de-list and 2 arches and contains a purple velvet cap and ermine band.
