Saturday 22 June 1940 – Wedding of Gladys May Knight at Badsey

WEDDING

The marriage took place at St James’ Church, Badsey, on Saturday, of Miss Gladys May Knight, eldest daughter of Mrs Isobel Knight and the late Mr Albert Knight, 5 Synehurst Crescent, and Mr Isaac John Clifton, youngest son of Mr & Mrs F Clifton, Low Hill, Spetchley, near Worcester.  Canon W C Allsebrook officiated.  Given away by her father, the bride wore white silk with an overdress of white lace and a picture hat to tone and carried a bouquet of red roses.  She was attended by three bridesmaids, the Misses M Knight (sister), Madge Grove and Winnie Enstone, who wore lavender taffeta and blue and pink georgette, with turbans to match.  Their bouquets were of blue cornflowers and red roses.  The bride’s brother, Mr John Knight, was best man.  On leaving the church the bride was presented with silver horseshoes by Gerald Emms and Terence Brotherton, her cousins.  A reception at Badsey Council Schools was attended by 60 guests.
