Miss Dore was married at St James’ Church, Badsey, on Wednesday last week to Mr Terence Owen Mabberley of Netherfields, Bretforton Road, Badsey.
The bride has been a member of the staff of Messrs Hamilton & Bell, Evesham, and colleagues presented her with a bone china tea service and pouffe. The groom is now employed on his own account as an agricultural contractor. Given away by her father, the bride made a charming figure in a dress of white brocade with train. Her veil was held in place by a headdress of orange blossom and she carried a bouquet of red carnations with trailing fern.
In attendance were Mrs R Thould, matron of honour, and Miss Christine Grove and Miss Gloria Hunt. All were dressed in turquoise taffeta with headdresses of freesias. Their bouquets consisted of yellow tulips. Page boy was Master Roger Stewart, the bride’s nephew, who wore a white blouse and red velvet trousers. Best man was Mr Robert Tould of San Remo, Badsey, a friend of the groom.
The service was conducted by the Vicar of Badsey, the Rev W B Chapman with Mrs G Marshall at the organ. As the couple left the church they were presented with lucky tokens by Miss Annette Stewart, Brian and Roger Stewart and Miss Sarah Hodgetts.
A peal of bells was rung by St James’ band of ringers, while 50 guests attended the reception at The Royal Oak, Badsey. Later the couple left for their honeymoon at Weston-super-Mare and the bride’s travelling attire was a grey gros-grain suit and white coat with light green accessories.
The groom’s present to the bride was her travelling coat while she gave him a travelling clock. His presents to the bridesmaids were pearls and earrings and to the page boy he gave a silver tankard. They will make their future home at Netherfields, Bretforton Road, Badsey.
