CEREMONY AT BADSEY
Miss M B Tutton – Mr G Perks
St James’ Church, Badsey, was the scene of the wedding on Saturday of Miss Maywen Beryl Tutton, only daughter of Mr & Mrs C H Tutton of St Cadoc, Blackminster, Badsey, and Mr Gordon Perks, only son of the late Mr & Mrs Perks of Birmingham.
Given away by hr father, Mr C H Tutton, the bride was attired in a charcoal grey costume with white hat and tan accessories and wore a spray of red roses. In attendance was her cousin from Barry, Miss Audrey Stonehewer, who wore a grey costume with a turquoise hat and wore a spray of pink roses.
Best man was the groom’s friend, Mr James Smith, and the ushers were Mr F R Tutton and Dr R C Tutton, brothers of the bride.
The service was conducted by the Vicar of Badsey, the Rev W B Chapman, with Mrs G Marshall as organist. A Reception followed at The Royal Oak where 40 guests were entertained and later the happy couple left for their honeymoon which is being spent in touring the West Country. They will make their future home at Perry Barr, Birmingham.
The groom presented the bridesmaid with a pair of black enamel on gold earrings and a matching necklace.
The bride, who comes from a family well known both in Badsey and Evesham, was educated at Prince Henry’s Grammar School and Exeter University.
At the reception, the bride’s mother presented the bride with a lucky silver boot which was autographed by all the guests present.
