My Dearest Wife,

I was glad to hear of your safe arrival at Richmond, I had somehow rather anticipated the news of Miss Robinson’s death, I hope it will be found that she has not forgotten to remember Fred in her will to a liberal extent.

It is such a rough evening and I have not been out since morning service to which Jack & May accompanied me, they have been very good all day.  Mr Radleigh came to dinner but would not stay beyond 4 o’clock, we had a fair day’s sport yesterday, considering the weather, I did not start till middle day.  I had Baby brought down to see me after he was undressed, he seemed quite good, the other three had quite a romp they each gave me a kiss for Mamma and May sent a message to the effect that she had been a very happy little girl, Phyllis says that Ethel did not miss Kitty till this morning when she asked for her.  Jack and May went to tea at Aldington yesterday and enjoyed themselves very much. I hope you found Polly pretty well also the rest of the household, have you seen anything of the Surbiton folks yet?  So Kitty was rather tired, I expect she missed her going to bed, kiss her dear pet for me, I hope she will soon be quite at home and that she will be quite friendly with everybody.  I do not seem to have any news of interest for you so will say good night, give my love to all and with much for yourself I am ever

Your affectionate Husband

Julius Sladden
