My Dearest Wife,
I must write a few lines this evening after supper and in time to catch late post. So far I have had charming weather. I went to the parish church this morning with Charlotte and to S. Michael’s this evening with John, it is an ugly building but Mr Husband plays the organ splendidly and gave us a good sermon, he has some original ideas, which is refreshing. Frank came over for the day; to-morrow I think I shall go to Deal and Sandwich and return next day. I mean to see a dentist here about my teeth before I return. Tell May I have rather arranged with Mary to meet them on Saturday morning and then when they go to the theatre I can go and see George.
May will find it cheaper to back from here to Paris and not from London, I ascertained this yesterday. Charlotte went with me to Hythe, by train from Sandgate, yesterday afternoon. Then we took a small row boat up the canal for an hour or two and returned by omnibus, it was very pleasant and a prettier route than I expected. Have you sent that advt to the Morning Post again? How is Ethel getting on with the management of the fruit? They were very pleased with what I brought and it travelled pretty well. I did not see Polly at Richmond for she unfortunately had a headache. Tell Boo to do a little weeding when he can. Kiss little Juliet and tell her I hope she gives you a little peace in the morning. Has Kathleen written to Jack about his mathematics?
Now I must close with much love to you all
Your affectionate Husband
Julius Sladden
Charlotte sends love and thinks I am looking well.
