The death of Mrs Kate Sparrow, widow of Mr William Douglas Sparrow, of 10 Green Leys, Badsey, occurred suddenly at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr & Mrs T Keen, 2 Synehurst, Badsey, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Although she had not enjoyed good health for some time, she appeared to be in good spirits on Saturday, and went with her daughter to the parish churchyard during the afternoon, and sat in St James' Church for a time. Her husband predeceased her about two and a half years ago.

The funeral of Mrs Sarah Ann Allard of 10 Synehurst, Badsey, took place at Badsey on Wednesday week, a service in St James' Church preceding interment in the churchyard. The service was conducted by the Rev A Fraser, and Mrs G W Marshall was at the organ for the singing of the hymn, “Abide with me”.
The wedding took place at St James’ Church, Badsey, on Thursday week of Miss Marjorie Allard, elder daughter of Mrs and the late Mr George Allard, of 10 Synehurst, Badsey, and Mr Leonard Wheatcroft Perkins, fourth son a Mr & Mrs J C Perkins, of 1 Station Road, Bretforton.
BADSEY MAN’S PRESTON BRIDE – Parish Clerk’s wedding in North of England
The marriage took place at Preston, Lancs, on Saturday, of Mr Douglas Austin Jelfs, of No 3 Synehurst, Badsey, and Mrs Nora Duffield, of No 55,Victoria Road, Fulwood, Preston, Lancs. The bridegroom is the eldest son of Mr & Mrs William H Jelfs, of Lion End Cottage, Boreham, near Chelmsford, Essex (and late of Badsey) and the bride is the only daughter of Mr & the late Mrs Thomas Harpley of Whitecroft, Walton-le-Dale, near Preston, Lancs.

St James’ Church, Badsey, was the scene of a pretty wedding on Saturday when Miss Lucy Mary Keen, youngest daughter of Mr & Mrs T Keen of 2 Synehurst, Badsey, was married to Mr Elfryn Lewis Williams, youngest son of Mrs E Williams and the late Mr Williams of 18 Maesyrhai Place, Loughor, near Swansea.
HONEYBOURNE SOLDIER WEDS AT BADSEY – Private H H Silvester and Miss Evelyn Keen
The wedding took place last Saturday at St James’ Church, Badsey, of Miss Evelyn Keen, second daughter of Mr & Mrs T Keen of 2 Synehurst, Badsey, and Private Horace Henry Silvester, RA, youngest son of Mr & Mrs James Silvester of 7 Council Houses, Cow Honeybourne. The Vicar (Canon W C Allsebrook, RD) officiated.
OBITUARY - The death occurred on Friday at Tamworth, Staffs, of Mrs Rose Ellen Cockerton of No 1 Synehurst, Badsey, at the age of 63. She was a native of Badsey and is survived by her husband, Mr B S Cockerton, and one daughter. The funeral took place at St James’ Church, Badsey, on Wednesday, the service being conducted by the Vicar, Rev W B Chapman. Mrs G Marshall officiated at the organ.

For over 50 years, Anna Tucker lived at Field Cottage, Mill Lane, Badsey, and immersed herself in village activities. But, until moving to Field Cottage, she had only lived in England for four years. It’s thanks to Anna and her husband, Peter, that vital documents relating to Badsey’s history, have been preserved for posterity.
