My Dearest Wife,

I was so glad to get your letter this morning and to have a pretty fair report of you.  I have just returned from Deal with Charlotte, we found Miss Hougham, who has been a little better again, in bed as her cough had returned she is evidently very feeble she was however very pleased to see us and of course had a little parcel for you containing I believe some socks, she also insisted upon giving me £1 for Jack which she said you or Polly could lay out for him.  I just called at Kent House and found Uncle Noakes quite as well as I expected, afterwards we dined at Rosway, they were quite well there.  Yesterday I went to Goss Hall, Beatrice has grown such a big girl but is weak from the effects of whooping cough.  On our return just now we found Mother quite poorly so I think as she ought to keep quiet this evening I shall walk down to Guston, I have already seen Frank.  I think I shall leave here on Monday and put up that night at Surbiton, I may go to Alfred Hitchman's on Tuesday but I am not sure, anyway I think you may expect me not later than Wednesday.  I hope the chicks keep good kiss them for me.  Mother & Charlotte send their love and are glad to hear of your progress, also other friends whom I have seen to-day.  And now with much love from myself

Believe me ever

Your affectionate Husband

Julius Sladden
