DALLIMORE, Will (1949-2024) – “A Will to make us Smile”, a poem by Brian Smith

By the death of Will Dallimore on 27th December 2024, Badsey has lost a real village character – he was truly a one-off.  A full appreciation of his life will appear shortly but, in the meantime, here is the poem composed and read by Brian Smith at Will’s funeral on 21st January 2025.  Brian and Will were partners in crime, working together on a number of projects and appearing at various events.  Working with Will was a laugh a minute.

Follow the Skylark Trail around New Farm Nature Reserve, Evesham

Bring along the whole family for an afternoon stroll at New Farm, Norton. Meet Alan and Shirley Tutton at the end of the car park by the Valley Railway and take the waymarked path through the gate to the nature reserve. On the way we will observe the wildlife and see where the prehistoric settlement and Romano-British farmstead lay. The short trail is 1 mile, the longer one 1.75 miles, and takes about an hour. The final section is not accessible to pushchairs and wheelchairs, but the short route is.

Badsey 1934-2025 - The Changing Scene

The annual Richard Phillips Memorial Lecture will be held at Badsey Community Sports & Social Club.

Following on from his talk to the Badsey Society in May 2024, in which he recalled the history of Badsey up until the heyday of market gardening in the 1920s, Terry Sparrow, 91 years young, will bring the story up to date with a talk entitled “Badsey 1934-2025 – The Changing Scene”.

In 1690, a popular pamphlet proclaimed:

The full Tryals, Examination, and Condemnation of four Notorious Witches at the Assizes held at Worcester, on Tuesday the 4th of March 1690.  With the manner, how they were found guilty of bewitching several children to death, as also, their confessions, and last dying speeches at the place of execution, with other amazing particulars concerning the said witchcraft.
