Our villages have a great deal to celebrate, from the history of the houses and people that lived in them to its geology and the flora and fauna.
The Badsey & Aldington Trail aims to take you on a journey of discovery around our Parish. Each point of interest is marked by a small plaque that contains a QR (Quick Response) code. If you point the camera on a smart phone at this code, you will be shown a small nugget of information about each place. There is no specific route for the trail and there is no numerical order that you need to follow. You can just wander around the village and enjoy the discovery. You can find plaques from as far as Bowers Hill, in the southeast of the parish, to Cuckoo Bridge in the northwest. The map below is there to help those planning an event, especially youth groups and school. At the time of writing this there are 53 plaques around the village.
If you see a place that could become a site along the path of discovery around our village, please let us know. It is very easy to set up a new station for the trail. We only need a short description of place that is to be marked with possibly a photo, an audio recording of someone’s memories or even a video clip. These can all be easily loaded onto the web site, and we will do that for you.
The only condition is that the plaques need to be screwed to a flat surface such as a gate post or foot path sign. You will need permission from the owner of any property, including fence posts that you want to fix the plaque to.
