Highway Offence
Chevalier Taylor, artist, Badsey, was charged with riding a bicycle without a light at 7.30 pm on October 2nd. Defendant explained that he had met with an accident that prevented his getting home as soon as he expected. The Chairman said he ought to have told the policeman, and then probably he would have heard no more of the case. Fined 1s and 8s 6d costs.
Edward Pethard’s Account Book for the years from 1923 to 1929, and with two entries for 1934, gives an interesting insight into his work in and around Wickhamford during this period. He worked as an estate carpenter making and erecting fences, gates etc. as well as working for the local market gardeners.
Reverend William Broadhurst Chapman, Vicar of Wickhamford and Badsey, wrote the following report in the Parish Magazine of December 1948:
