Saturday 18 July 1896 – Richard Pendlebury beats Joseph Knight in Council election

DISTRICT COUNCIL ELECTION AT BADSEY

The poll for a member in the place of Mr J F M Woodward took place at Badsey Board Schoolroom on Thursday.  The number on the register of voters was 161.  The number of votes recorded was 123.  The poll was open from 12 until 8.  The result was declared by the Returning Officer (Mr Edward Wadams) at 8.15 as follows:

Wednesday 8 June 1870 – Samuel Knight and John Wheatley fined for being drunk and disorderly

DRUNK ETC

Samuel Knight and John Wheatley were fined 10s each and costs for being drunk and riotous at Badsey on the 14th of May.  Wheatley was then charged with having, at the same time and place, unlawfully assaulted and beat his aunt, an old woman, named Sarah Knight.  The defendants in the other case were fighting, and the Magistrates being of opinion that the old woman was accidentally struck, inflicted the mitigated penalty of 10s and costs.

Saturday 29 July 1865 – Brothers Charles and George Knight accused of stealing a ham

At the Magistrates’ Clerk’s Office on Thursday, before J Clark, Esq, and the Rev H J Faussett, Charles and George Knight, brothers, were brought up, charged with stealing a ham, weighing 10 lbs, the property of Mrs Fanny Wright, beerhouse keeper, at Badsey on the previous evening.  They were committed to take their trial at the next assizes.  Bail allowed.

Wednesday 26 January 1853 – Joseph Knight’s housewarming dinner at The Wheatsheaf Inn, Badsey

HOUSEWARMING AT BADSEY

Mr Joseph Knight’s housewarming dinner at the Wheat Sheaf Inn, Badsey, took place on the 13th inst, when upwards of 30 gentlemen sat down to an excellent dinner provided by the worthy host.  The chair was taken by Mr W Parker.  After the cloth was drawn, the usual loyal toasts were given, and the evening, which was spent in a friendly and social manner, was enlivened with some excellent songs, etc.
